Burnside Camp Ellimatta Road, Anglesea. ‘Ellimatta’- Indigenous for meeting place. Set in four hectares of beautiful bushland, abounding with native flora and fauna. Direct access to mountain bike trails, the Surf coast walk and walking distance to picturesque beaches and shopping centre. The natural beauty and peaceful surrounds leave a lasting impression.

Site Coordinators will ensure your group’s stay is rewarding and memorable. Staff will help tailor a program suited to your groups’ needs, to achieve identified educational & recreational outcomes. It is our aim that each camp participant be enriched through relationships formed, challenged by the program and personally encouraged to grow. It is well documented that shared experiences create a strong platform for healthy working relationships. Bonds made throughout camp create community, a powerful ingredient for the success of any group or year level.

Burnside Camp is owned and managed by Baptist Camping Victoria.

Most importantly, your group will walk away with an unmatched experience. They will be challenged to bring out their best.

Facilities

Burnside easily accommodates 100 campers in 18 heated rooms and 14 in 2 teepees. The rooms range in size from 2 to 8 people.

To make your stay more comfortable, please bring sleeping bags, bed linen, blankets, towels, toiletries, personal needs and torch.

Facilities Include:

  • A large Dining hall – capacity of 120 guests, an adjacent lounge area & wood heater
  • A Recreation Hall with large screen direct projection, DVD & HDI and PA system. A versatile space used for indoor games or set up as a conference facility. It has the capacity to seat up to 100, with an adjacent small lounge area
  • Outdoor campfire amphitheatre
  • Teachers’ Lounge, self-contained kitchenette & refrigerator
  • Commercial kitchen

Rooms will be allocated on the ‘Hire of Camp’ form one month prior to camp.

For health and safety of the hire group, the number of campers sleeping per room must not exceed the number of beds.  Campers are required to keep rooms in a clean condition during their stay. Notices of any kind should be placed on glass or board provided and not on painted surfaces.

Programs

A tailored program to meet your group’s educational and social needs will be coordinated by expert staff. All staff are fully qualified to facilitate programs and comply to industry standards.

School camps- Two full time program staff are available to facilitate the program for the duration of the camp, individual cost of activities are available on pricelist & quote.  All programs are designed to help you take full advantage of the camp’s setting and the wider coastal environment.

Programs can include a rotation of activities to ensure that all camp participants have access to the same camp experiences.

Please note that some activities do have individual costs. The risk management documentation to each of the selected activities may be down loaded for your convenience.

Decoration of rooms is permitted on the basis that all items are removed at the conclusion to camp with not damage to any surfaces/equipment.

Responsibility Clause

  • Camp leaders are responsible at all times for the health, welfare and behaviour of their campers, even when a Baptist Camping Victoria staff member is running a program. Camp leaders are responsible for the first aid of your campers at all times and must supply their own first aid equipment, even when camp staff runs an activity.
  • Baptist Camping Victoria staff are happy to come to your school to discuss your particular requirements or run an information session prior to camp. This will help set program themes and reassure parents about where their children are going on camp and who will be looking after them.  We have DVDs that will assist with this process if required.
  • Baptist Camping Victoria staff are happy to assist you at any time and should be notified of all first aid assistance while at Camp.

Extra costs apply to outside providers – price available upon application.
If you use outside providers, it is your responsibility to ensure they are an accredited provider and all safety issues are assessed.

Our Location

The Centre is on the Surf Coast near the holiday resort town of Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road.  It is 113km from Melbourne and is easily accessible via the Princes Hwy and Geelong Ring Road.

The Centre is situated in the bushland at the end of Ellimatta Road, Anglesea just passed the cricket, football and netball clubs.
